Equipment needed:

1 Apple Macintosh G4 Powerbook / iBook / Desktop Mac OSX 10.3.9, 1.25 GHz, 512Mb RAM,
Combo drive, USB 2, FireWire 400/800, or better
1 USB MIDI Interface minimum 2 in 1 out
1 Cable Set (MIDI, USB, 220 V, etc.)
1 Roland KR17-M digital grand piano
1 MIDI Keyboard 3 - 5 octaves (Yamaha, Korg, Roland)
1 Keyboard stand for MIDI master keyboard


Install software:

1. Copy the file ‘Pianot 1.23’ to the Applications folder on the harddisk of your Mac
2. Connect a USB MIDI interface to the Mac
3. Connect the Roland Piano MIDI out to MIDI in 1 of the MIDI interface
4. Connect the Control Keyboard MIDI out to MIDI in 2 of the MIDI interface
5. Set the MIDI channel of the control keyboard to MIDI channel 1
6. Connect MIDI interface out 1 to the Roland Piano MIDI in
7. Start the application ‘Pianot 1.23’ by double clicking it
8. Press and hold ‘shift’ - ‘option’ and click Special --> Extended Mode
9. Click Special --> Preferences
10. Set the following parameters:
a. Player Keyboard: select MIDI input 1 of the MIDI interface
b. Select MIDI channel 1 (2nd column)
c. Controller Keyboard: select MIDI input 2 of the MIDI interface
d. Select MIDI channel 1 (2nd column)
e. Pianot Output: select MIDI output 1 of the MIDI interface
f. Receive Remote: ignore
g. Send Remote: ignore
11. Set all other parameters as shown on next page.
12. Close the Prefernences window (no need to save / store)


Start up procedure:

1. Make all connections while instruments and computer are switched off
2. Switch on Roland Piano and Control Keyboard
3. Switch on computer
4. Switch on MIDI interface (if needed)
5. Start Pianot 1.23
6. On Roland Piano: Select User Program: CAP-KO (see Roland KR17M manual)
7. On Pianot 1.23: click ‘Initialize’
8. Check if Local = OFF on Roland Piano [Functions --> MIDI settings]
9. If you play the Roland Piano, the first green LED and the red LED will flash (Pianot window, left
lower corner)
10. If you play the Control Keyboard, the second green LED will flash (Pianot window, left lower
corner) and the transposition value will change
11. Click ‘big’ in Pianot window, a big window shows with the transposition value; this is the
performance window for the Control Keyboard player
12. You are ready to play
